Exercise Science and Health Promotion graduates will be able to demonstrate:

General Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Physical Education, and Recreation students will:

  1. Possess content knowledge and skills necessary for their perspective fields of study
  2. Exhibit the ability to read and interpret scientific research with application of the scientific methods, statistics, study design, and reporting
  3. Evaluate and integrate critical concepts and skills acquired in the EXHPR program to common professional problems in the fields of interest
  4. Exhibit effective oral and written communication regarding subjects related to EXHPR in an individual and group setting
  5. Apply and demonstrate knowledge, skills and critical problem solving in a field-based setting

 

Distinctive Aspects of the EXHPR Programs

  • A strong focus on practical application in the professional fields we address and support
  • A strong, scientifically based curriculum that emphasizes the development of cognitive skills transferable to a variety of professions
  • Academic advisement and upper division level courses taught by full-time faculty with both academic and real world professional skills and experiences
  • An ongoing involvement of students in practicum, internships and field experiences, as well as service and research projects, which positively influence both the individual student and the communities in which they work
  • A diversified group of emphasis areas comparable to that found only in much larger institutions
  • EXHPR is the Rocky Mountain Center for Dartfish (a movement analysis software program used by the Olympic Training Center and most professional sport coaches)
  • The AT program is an international training site for K Taping
  • The AT program provides athletic training services for community and NCAA events and has 9 affiliated community sites for student practicum’s
  • The Outdoor Pursuits program and Outdoor Leadership education program have Wilderness Education Association accreditation
